All animals are created equal...

...but some are more equal than others. A cover design for my absolute favorite book. Though admittedly it's hard to top the illustrated 5oth anniversary edition done by Ralph Steadman. Acrylic on board, 7" x 10".

A Presidential Medal for Tony Blair

Bush's "poodle" gets a new piece of flair for his collar. Inspired by this article (care of TIME), and done for my portfolio class. Acrylic on board.

Roger Waters final

I finally got a good scan of my finished Roger caricature illustration. It took two tries at the piece is coated with a layer of shiny aging varnish which makes it difficult to scan (sometimes there's a glare).
While it was a bit of a fun piece to do, I find that it lacks the "oomph" that my acrylic pieces tend to have. I feel that there is a huge disparity between my watercolor/mixed media works and my acrylic technique. I've been focusing almost exclusively on acrylics in my portfolio class as I tend get a much better reaction from people that view that work. It has something that my watercolors don't, so I'm leaning towards working in acrylics for my professional portfolio. Watercolors are quite fun on occasion, though.

Decisions, decisions...

I have been busy, busy, busy making new pieces in classes. I'm most enthusiastic about my work in my portfolio class since I feel like I'm really putting together good, conceptual images. However, I'm having a bit of a problem with one, or at least the colors within it.

I think the orange/blue combo makes the concept easier to read, but I really like the look of the red. What do you think?
